22Over7

March 19, 2007

The site is run by a U.K. company called Kirkmoor Software.
It is free to join and has a unique system.
The site has a service that allows you sell “shares” in your band to fans. Each share gives that share holder the right to download your mp3 music from the 22over7 website for a period of time that you set.

So, you are effectively selling a long-term subscription to your band. Fans pay a one-off fee that is set by the band, which allows fans to download any song that the band has or will release in the future (time frame to be decided by the artist).

It doesn’t matter which country you are in.

I had trouble signing in for free so couldn’t test the site extensively. I also tried to search for a band, but the way the site is set up, if you don’t know the name of the band you can’t find them.

I think the site has potential, but the execution still needs a bit of refining.

Selling your own music on the Internet

March 19, 2007

This section is about how to go about selling your own music (i.e. your original stuff) on the internet. This is a list of sites which all have varying pricing policies that I have searched over many months.
